The National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas) and the Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) held a stakeholder meeting on the social inclusion-based library transformation.

Library transformation is also an important demand in welcoming the era of Society 5.0

The meeting brought stakeholders to collaborate or synergize in building community literacy.

Dispusip Head Wahyu Haryadi said the social inclusion-based library transformation program is a development of the efforts to Increase Literacy, Innovation, and Creativity as National Priority Program 4 in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

It was also an effort to increase the love of reading as mandated in the Jakarta Regional Strategic Activities (KSD) and Gubernatorial Regulation number 76/2018 on Cultivating a Love of Reading.

"Library transformation is also an important demand in welcoming the era of Society 5.0 which requires every community to solve various challenges and social problems by utilizing various innovations that were born in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0," he stated, Tuesday (8/9).

He hoped that the community would have quality, productive abilities and master the development of technology and knowledge, as almost all aspects of life are now using technology.

"The level of public information literacy is the key to achieving prosperity in the future," he added.

By doing so, his party opened up and asked for collaboration and support from various elements to make the library a center for learning, creating, and growing for the community.

"Through a collaborative program, we can produce a generation that has information skills and special skills to improve their quality of life," he added.

Key Expert Librarian for Perpusnas Upriyadi explained that Perpusnas has implemented a social inclusion-based library transformation Program that aims to improve the quality of library services and the use of services according to community needs.

"Since 2020, it has become a national priority program and is included in the 2020-2024 RPJMN," he explained.

He uttered that the meeting aims to strengthen the synergy and collaboration of stakeholders in building community literacy through social inclusion-based library transformation.

Hopefully, this collaboration could provide benefits for both parties and encourage the main tasks and functions or goals of each stakeholder. The collaboration that could be provided could be in the form of program cooperation, human resources, goods, and materials.

"The meeting at the provincial level is to create a supportive ecosystem for program implementation at the provincial, sub-district, and urban village levels," he uttered.

He assessed that if the ecosystem is running well, then the roles of all stakeholders will be clear and interrelated with each other and synergize. Thus, the process of building human resources through strengthening literacy in library transformation would be sustainable.

"It will certainly contribute optimally to improving the quality of resources and community welfare," he stated.

As for the information, the stakeholder meeting is a series of the annual cycle of the implementation of the social inclusion-based library transformation program.

In 2022, it is slated to be held in 33 provinces face-to-face and divided into five waves, each wave being held in 6 to 7 provinces.
